Buildings insurance
Buildings insurance protects against damage to the structure of your home, as well as its fixtures and fittings in the event of a range of perils such as fire, theft, flood and storm.
You are not obliged to buy both buildings insurance and contents cover from the same insurer, but sometimes a combined package can offer great value. For example, Privilege is offering 50 per cent off your contents insurance when you buy buildings insurance at the same time (offer is for new customers only and expires 31/03/07).
Buildings insurance from Privilege automatically provides up to £1,000,000 cover for buildings – insurance that covers the cost of rebuilding your home and any outbuildings. Insurance doesn’t just cover things like walls, roofs, patios and driveways, it also includes permanent fixtures like kitchen units, bathroom fittings and fitted wardrobes.
Privilege buildings insurance also covers outbuildings such as sheds and garages, as well as frozen or burst pipes. Not only that, but if your home is uninhabitable because of something like broken windows or drainage problems, your Privilege buildings insurance will pay up to £25,000 for you to stay somewhere else.
